Renowned Belgian concept developer Creneau International recently opened a branch in Eindhoven. Several beautiful and well-thought-out hospitality projects were completed from this location last year, including the renovation of the iconic Carlton Beach Hotel in Scheveningen and the new interior for the Zuiderzoet restaurant at CenterParcs De Eemhof.
Previously, Creneau designed the HUP Hotel Mierlo, Cloudclub at Eindhoven Airport, and restaurant Terland for the Terhills Resort (by CenterParcs). According to lead designer Yannic Alidarso, clients turn to Creneau not only because the company is a hospitality expert that operates hospitality establishments itself, but also 'because we have everything under one roof, including our own construction workshop.'
Zuiderzoet: ode to water and land
Last year, Creneau worked on the redevelopment of restaurant Zuiderzoet in Zeewolde, a project for Center Parcs De Eemhof. The design is based on the theme Dance between Water and Land and reflects the restaurant's unique location in a reclaimed area, which is evident throughout: in the color scheme, materials, textures, and forms. For instance, water and earth are presented in various ways. Take the layers of soil in the bar and kitchen, as if they too were reclaimed; the ripples in the wood finish; the ripple effect on the walls and in the lighting; the sail-shaped curtain; and the undulating movement of the tables. "We not only designed many of these elements but also produced them ourselves in our construction workshop," says Alidarso. Rik Goedkoop of client Center Parcs: "I am pleased that this special place – a piece of reclaimed polder land in Flevoland – is reflected so beautifully in the sustainable interior." He also praises the collaboration, which – partly because Creneau operates restaurants itself – "went more than smoothly."
