The combination of a dark ride with a roller coaster is still relatively unique in the attraction sector and very expensive. Thanks to a collaboration between the Belgian Boldmove Nation and E&S rides, a hybrid concept is now available with a significantly more attractive price tag. The Spinfinity is a spinning coaster to which dark ride elements have been added during the ride. And the concept contains even more special surprises for the visitor.
The new Spinfinity concept was explained to the Dutch media on June 12 in Utrecht. During the IAAPA Expo Europe in Amsterdam (September 24 – 26) the new attraction will be presented to the market. The new concept includes so many special (new) elements that we have just made a summary of them.
- A spinning coaster, but one where the 4 occupants look towards the center and can therefore see each other clearly.
- Half of the 175 meter long route runs through an indoor section with images, projection and sound effects (the dark ride experience). The outdoor part provides the acceleration and thrill. Because the route can go both forwards and backwards, the total length of the route for the visitor is longer than the 275 meters of a physical roller coaster.
- Halfway there is a choice point built in where it is randomly decided whether the route continues forwards or backwards.
- The indoor section requires a space of at least 17 x 17 meters with a height of 17 meters. The total footprint of the attraction (indoor and outdoor) is 1500 m2. (approximately 59 x 25 meters). This means that the attraction can also be fitted on relatively smaller pieces of land.
- A hologram is projected in the center of the cart, which is part of the attraction's storyline. The storyline is defined as a total experience that you as a visitor can give your own interpretation to. (untold story)
- There is a great deal of flexibility in applying the storyline and associated IP, so that an attraction can be adapted to the theme of the park (part). Boldmove takes care of this customization, providing the entire 360 degree experience; including attraction, theming, queue and souvenir shop.
What makes this attraction especially innovative is the compact price tag. The total concept (without construction of the buildings) can be realized with a budget of less than €3 million. This means that a particularly complex and immersive attraction is now also within the reach of smaller parks. With a capacity of 500 people per hour, it can also contribute to the development of an amusement park with growth ambitions.
