At the beginning of March 2024, Landal Beach Resort Ooghduyne introduced a new access system with a green tag. The tag can be used by the guest for access to the holiday villa as well as the entrance to the swimming pool, entrance gates and indoor playground. It is a flexible multifunctional application that can be combined with other options such as time slots.

The new keyless system has also been introduced at other Landal parks. In April we will also offer access via smartphone. In that case, the guest no longer has to queue at the reception, can check in themselves and, if the villa is 'clean', open the door with their smartphone,” says park manager Bart van Wegen. Now, guests sometimes have to wait upon arrival and consult a digital information panel to see whether their accommodation has been 'released for occupancy'.

Flexible access methods
Salto KS Systems is the provider of scalable Cloud-based access control solutions. They developed the new green tag and associated software together with Landal. “It is important to us that flexible access methods are possible, for example aimed at specific days, time slots or type of user,” says Bart van Wegen. Last year, Landal GreenParks achieved a Golden Interactive Award in the Digital Transformation category. The jury report already mentioned the digital key for villas and swimming pool access. The digital key developed together with Salto Systems is used by 75% of the guests. Another innovative solution, which will become possible at Ooghduyne from next month, is to allow guests to share their digital key via WhatsApp. According to Bart van Wegen, the introduction of 'the green tag' and smartphone functionalities not only improves the quality of the guest experience, safety also increases.

Type of guest is decisive
Improving the Customer Journey (contact moments) has a high priority for providers in the leisure market. Hotels and holiday parks are experimenting with various systems aimed at hospitality and safety. Digital access solutions, including via smartphones, have been trendy for some time. Which solution the provider chooses depends, among other things, on the type of guest. It makes quite a difference whether your guests consist of parents with children, grandparents with grandchildren, generation Z or seniors). Careful consideration of the approach is therefore desirable. On the one hand, implementation can generate savings and guest loyalty, but on the other hand it can also lead to annoyance if systems do not work. In any case, it is necessary to have sufficient in-house knowledge in the field of ICT and social media. Guests still find a balanced mix of personal attention (from a reception) and digital applications (such as an app) ideal.
