Meer Leisure has developed a new tool that allows holiday parks and campsites to track the consumer prices competitors are charging on a daily basis. Prijsspion compares its own rates with selected parks up to 365 days in advance and provides a notification in the event of price changes. The tool is not linked to a single reservation system.

For leisure business owners who work with dynamic pricing, tracking competitors is often still a manual process. Opening separate websites, entering the same stay period, and then trying to determine whether accommodations or campsites are truly comparable.
Meer Leisure is trying to automate that process with Prijsspion. The tool retrieves consumer prices from selected holiday parks daily and compares them with its own rates.
Not the benchmark, but the price the guest sees
Meer Leisure explicitly does not position Prijsspion as a general market benchmark. The comparison is made based on the price that a consumer actually sees at that moment.
An entrepreneur chooses which competitors to monitor. These can then be placed into various comparison groups. According to Meer Leisure, it is possible to view how one's own price compares to the selected competition up to 365 days in advance per arrival date.
According to the product page, the tool retrieves prices from parks that work with Booking Experts, Recranet, EveryLeisure, and Tommy Booking, among others. Prices from chains such as Landal, Dormio, Summio, and EuroParcs can also be included in the comparison.
Daily notification of a price change
A practical feature is the alert function. When Prijsspion detects a price change at a monitored competitor during the daily check, the user receives a notification.
The own price is not automatically adjusted in this process. The entrepreneur can first review what has happened in the market and then determine whether action is necessary.
That distinction is important. A competitor lowering their price does not automatically mean that another park must do the same. Occupancy, target audience, location, type of accommodation, included services, and the park's own pricing strategy remain determining factors.
Comparing still requires making good choices.
The added value of such a tool therefore stands or falls with the chosen comparison group.
Comparing a luxury lodge with wellness facilities to a simple bungalow says little, even when both are available for the same weekend. The same applies to campsites with different sizes, private sanitary facilities, or differing amenities.
For recreation entrepreneurs, the first practical step therefore lies not with the software, but with the question: with which companies and products do I really want to compare myself? Only then does a daily price difference become meaningful.
Optionally link to automatic price control
Meer Leisure also offers integration with its own Revenue Management System for users of Booking Experts.
This allows a price change at competitors to ultimately be incorporated into automatic price adjustments within predefined frameworks. Meer Leisure emphasizes that the system should not blindly follow the competitor, but should steer based on its own pricing strategy and occupancy.
For parks that are already actively working with revenue management, the combination can be interesting: competitor information then becomes an additional data source alongside their own occupancy and booking trends.
Practical for campsites and holiday parks
According to Meer Leisure, the tool is not dependent on the recreation company's own reservation system. As a result, Prijsspion can also be used independently of its own RMS or PMS.
For entrepreneurs, four applications are of particular interest:
- Check price position. Check on specific arrival dates whether their own rate is clearly above or below comparable providers.
- Detect competitors' actions faster. A sudden price drop or increase no longer needs to be detected manually.
- Looking ahead to peak periods. The comparison extends up to 365 days ahead, allowing holidays and popular weekends to be tracked early.
- Justify pricing decisions. Competitive pricing becomes an additional signal alongside occupancy, booking speed, and own margin targets.
Prijsspion therefore does not take over the pricing strategy, but can automate part of the daily control work.
Competitive pricing is one of the buttons
For recreation businesses, it remains wise not to look only at the competition.
A higher price can be perfectly justifiable when a park offers a stronger product, a better location, more amenities, or more generous terms. Conversely, a lower price from a competitor does not necessarily warrant a discount when one's own occupancy is already strong.
The interesting development therefore lies primarily in making up-to-date competitive prices available as operational management information. Whereas this comparison was previously often performed incidentally and manually, it can now become a daily part of revenue management.
