Visitors to swimming pools can take a look inside the shipwreck of the Titanic (via VR). This is the latest addition from the Dutch company Virtual Reality Slide. For holiday park Hof van Saksen, this is now the 7th underwater experience.

The premiere took place last week at Hof van Saksen, where visitors were the first to experience the new underwater experience. From now on, the theme is also available for other swimming pools, holiday parks, and water parks at home and abroad.
From swimming pool to underwater world
More and more swimming pools, holiday parks, and water parks are looking for ways to offer their guests new experiences without investing millions in new attractions.
With VR Snorkeling, an existing swimming pool transforms in just a few minutes into an interactive underwater world where visitors experience the most beautiful Virtual Reality adventures while snorkeling.
In addition to Titanic, the worlds SeaWorld, Atlantis, Shark Attack, Space, Gold Rush, and Pirates are now also available.
Revenue model surrounding VR experiences
The VR snorkel masks are available to operators through various concepts:
- Rentals for holidays, events, and temporary promotions;
- Purchase for permanent operation;
- Shared Revenue concepts where locations can start without major investment.
This allows large holiday parks as well as municipal swimming pools and water parks to easily start with the attraction.
Joeri Dusch of Virtual Reality Slide explains a case study: “We have been working with Hof van Saksen for almost 3 years now. Based on Shared Revenue, they charge €6 per 10 minutes, which is divided between the two parties. We also do this at 15 other parks (some have a slightly higher price) and a few Center Parcs.”
Practical application at the Court of Saxony
We heard from Hof van Saksen what their experiences are with the snorkeling experience:
The recently introduced Titanic environment is one of several virtual worlds available within this existing activity.
The activity takes place in the competition pool at fixed times throughout the week and is supervised by specialized staff. Participation costs €6 per person. Guests react predominantly positively and appreciate the activity as a fun and accessible addition to the recreational offerings.
Virtual Reality Snorkeling is an existing activity offered at multiple recreational locations and holiday parks. The addition of new virtual worlds ensures that guests can continually discover new experiences. It is one of the many fun activities offered at Hof van Saksen.

International interest
The Dutch innovation is now being used by swimming pools, holiday parks, and resorts in several European countries and beyond. With the introduction of the Titanic theme, Virtual Reality Slide expects renewed interest from the international leisure industry.
Dusch: “We also offer VR Snorkeling as a purchase package (worldwide) and as a rental concept (Europe only). We are currently doing this at over 200 locations.”
