Insurer Zilveren Kruis is concerned about the consequences of too much sun. For that reason, they sponsored a Lubrication Spot at 80 locations this year. Various day attractions and recreational beaches were also eligible. In addition, there is a 'grease bike' that rides around at various events.

On the list of amusement parks, we see Dippie Doe, Ouwehands Dierenpark, Aqua Best, Tropical Zoo, de Waarbeek, Drouwenerzand, Dierenrijk, Julianatoren, and Billy Bird Hemelrijk, among others. Zilveren Kruis has now run out of its stock of lubrication poles. They are referring other locations to suppliers of lubrication poles: Smeerkees and Sundo.
“Every day we take good care of the animals and provide visitors with a fun day out. The sun is already showing itself well this summer, so we think it is important that visitors are protected against the sun in the open air. We are therefore very happy with the collaboration with Zilveren Kruis!”
General manager of Dierenrijk Sander van der Heul
Lubricating is healthy
For Zilveren Kruis, the health aspect is an important factor in setting up the campaign: “In the Netherlands, skin cancer is the most common and fastest increasing form of cancer. Fortunately, the majority of the Dutch are aware of the risks. Nevertheless, lubricating is not yet a habit in a large group.”
Lubricate and dose
The sun power in the Netherlands is often high from April to September. In addition to lubricating, dosing is important. The Skin Fund therefore advises staying out of the bright sun between twelve and three. And if you go outside also think about a cap or sun hat and sunglasses. Jan-Willem Evers: “And keep lubricating! Because the fact that you don't get tan with factor 30 is also an excuse.”
Corporate Responsibility
The lubrication piles at Zilveren Kruis have now all been installed. If you still want to install a Grease Pole (or a smaller dispenser), you can contact several suppliers. At Zilveren Kruis we work together with Sundo and Smeerkees. The latter also has a payment option on the sunscreen poles.
