The DippieDoe amusement park in Best, Brabant (Eindhoven region), has its own recognizable mascot: Dippie. The introduction of the new mascot is part of a broader commercial program aimed at shaping new brand positioning and further expanding its merchandise; a new souvenir shop is also planned.
Although DippieDoe has never had a mascot before, Dippie didn't come completely out of nowhere. His appearance is a nod to DippieDoe's old logo, from when the park was still an indoor play paradise. The waterdrop-shaped logo from back then is playfully reflected in Dippie's character: energetic, friendly, connected, and full of imagination.
The arrival of Dippie also marks the launch of DippieDoe Theme Park's very first merchandise line. The park shop now offers a wide range of Dippie products, including plush toys, keychains, t-shirts, pins, mugs, card games, bibs, canvas bags, caps, and much more. The collection will be further expanded in the coming months with new, exciting products.
Introducing Dippie from a commercial perspective
Do you also have your own souvenir shop where Dippie-related products are sold? DippieDoe: “We are in the process of creating that. Currently, merchandise is sold from the reception and from a sales booth in the park.”
Is Dippie primarily intended as a promotional tool, or also to generate more revenue from the sale of souvenirs? DippieDoe: “More to enhance the brand experience. We would like children to be able to take a piece of DippieDoe home with them as well.”
Are you also going to develop more products around Dippie? (the 360-degree approach to IP) DippieDoe: “Ultimately, that is a strategy we do want to implement. Because our target audience is children. We already have merchandise, and games too; we do theater during our DippieDoeDays and again at Halloween.”
Are you also going to use Dippie to set up themed zones in your park with the mascot as the main theme? DippieDoe: “This is also part of a long-term strategy.”
