Adventure park Hellendoorn will get a new attraction in 2026: a giant swing

Hellendoorn Adventure Park will open a new attraction next year: a 12-meter-high giant swing, accessible to both younger and older visitors. This is a first for the Netherlands and adds another layer of family-friendly adrenaline to the existing arsenal of attractions.

"We're very proud of yet another adventurous addition to our park," says director Rens-Jan van Vliet. "After the RidderStrijd roller coaster in 2024, we'll be continuing this coming season with another experience that's spectacular for families, but also remains accessible for younger guests. Next year we'll be celebrating our 90th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than with a new attraction?"

The brand-new attraction features a giant swing that can accommodate 16 people per ride. When the swing starts, riders are instantly catapulted to a height of 12 meters. The attraction has a capacity of approximately 500 people per hour. While the enormous swing doesn't invert, it does provide that special "butterflies in the stomach" feeling, creating not only excitement but also fun. A perfect attraction for the Adventure Park.

The site of the new attraction was previously occupied by Montezuma's Revenge, a so-called topspin. This spinning bank, with its spinning motions, was primarily reserved for extreme daredevils. The new ride will be much more family-friendly: just as much thrilling fun, but less intense. The supplier is the German manufacturer ART Engineering.

The area, which also houses Dino Sky Pedalo, Tarantula Magica, and the Aquaventura Slidepark, will also be fully themed around dinosaurs, prehistoric times, and the Stone Age. This expansion will create an environment where visitors not only experience the attractions but also immerse themselves in an atmosphere of thousands of years ago.

At the start of the upcoming season, this attraction will open its doors to the public for the first time, marking a first for both Avonturenpark Hellendoorn and the Netherlands. Avonturenpark Hellendoorn is the first location in the Netherlands where this attraction will open. Earlier this year, Fort Fun in Sauerland (DE), also part of the Looping Group, opened the ' Großer Adler '. It is a similar attraction, and the reactions to it have been glowing: 'A fun attraction for the whole family, which is definitely more exciting than just swinging back and forth'.

"Fully in line with other attractions in the park, this attraction will also be a true, adventurous experience, themed from start to finish," promises Van Vliet. Construction has already begun.
