On Friday, June 9, roles will be reversed at Bellewaerde Park in Flanders. Fifteen permanent employees will be assigned a new position for one day. The job switch day fosters better understanding among colleagues, and the publicity is being used to attract new staff.
Park director Stefaan Lemey will operate the new attractions Hampi and Psssht Station today, webmaster Sam Clauw will strengthen the animal care team and operations director Charlotte Looten will help the mechanics.
Job Switch Day
A job switch day is organized on a regular basis at Bellewaerde. This gives new employees the opportunity to interact with visitors and gain a better feel for the daily operations of the park. “ An engaging and educational experience for all participating colleagues, ” says Sharon Vanacker (HR Manager), who started working as an attraction operator at Wakala for the first time. “ It is an enriching experience to perform the role for which I hire people every day. It gives me a better picture of the job itself. ”
Park director Stefaan Lemey is also a ride operator for a day and starts at the new attractions Hampi and Psssht Station. “ We have invested 16 million euros in the park this year to let our visitors experience 6 new features. For me, it is therefore very important and interesting to receive direct feedback from visitors about the new attractions. And one more thing: respect for the ride operators! ” says Stefaan.
Furthermore, webmaster Sam Clauw is also reinforcing the animal keepers. Operations Director Charlotte Looten is also rolling up her sleeves with the team of mechanics: “ As Operations Director, it is nice to get to know the technical side of the attractions as well, and thus be more aware of the safety risks. ” In addition, reinforcements were provided at the ticket counters, the maintenance crew, the groundskeeping department, and the car park.
