Caravan Salon Düsseldorf 2024: full program for the caravanning community

Caravaning stands for self-determined and independent travel in the middle of nature and fulfills people's desire for freedom and individuality like no other form of holiday does. At Caravan Salon from August 30 to September 8, the community's mobile dreams will be fulfilled and the industry will showcase its full portfolio; from vehicles to suitable holiday destinations. Düsseldorf will be the international capital of mobile leisure for ten days and will once again impress the community with an extensive program, special shows, specials and numerous attractions.

On 250.000 square meters, more than 750 exhibitors are showcasing the latest caravans, motorhomes, and campervans, as well as accessories, conversion parts, tents, mobile homes, holiday destinations, and camping and motorhome pitches. “The development of the leading trade fair for the caravaning industry is impressive. We have once again surpassed last year’s record figures, allowing us to look forward to the largest Caravan Salon of all time in 2024. Our 16 halls and the outdoor area are fully booked, which means that product diversity is even greater. Caravan Salon is more valuable than ever for the industry and, in particular, for end users,” says an enthusiastic Stefan Koschke, Director of the fair.

Daniel Onggowinarso, Director of the Caravaning Industry Association (CIVD): “As the largest and most important trade fair in our industry, Caravan Salon is the undisputed highlight of the caravaning year. Nowhere else can visitors dive so deep into the multifaceted world of caravaning and experience the latest innovations and product trends up close. This naturally includes the newest vehicle models from caravan and motorhome manufacturers, which traditionally celebrate their premiere at Caravan Salon. But the fair is so much more than just a showcase for products; it is also an indispensable cross-industry platform for exchange and dialogue, as caravaning has undoubtedly developed into a major tourism and economic factor. That is why we are very pleased to welcome numerous representatives from politics, economics, and science to the fair again this year.”

In addition to the exhibitors' activities, there is a varied program in the halls and on the outdoor area and many special themes around mobile leisure activities:

'StarterWelt' in the outdoor area – a must for beginners

The popular StarterWelt is the first address for anyone who has just discovered mobile travel. This year it is located on the outdoor area between Halls 10 and 16. During Caravan Salon it helps newcomers and beginners to orientate themselves on the extensive exhibition offer and find the suitable vehicle. Professionals provide recommendations regarding vehicle types, travel routes or the right choice of a camping site and are also ready to answer questions. In addition to this personal advice, a varied stage program with all relevant themes about mobile travel provides even more information and inspiration.

Adventure Do-It-Yourself

Also on the outdoor area, the special exhibition 'Do-It-Yourself Adventure' will be the first port of call for the DIY community and VanLife fans. Martin Kreplin's team with the explorer & VANderlust magazines offers professional help for halls 13 and 14 and uses their expertise to demonstrate what should be taken into account when converting or expanding your own camper (or caravan). Several self-built recreational vehicles clearly show what is possible. Daily lectures for beginners, advanced students and professionals provide information on important topics such as workshop and materials science, power and energy supply, heating and cooking, as well as insulation and layout.

Traumtouren-Kino and spectacular EOFT films

In the Traumtouren-Kino (the dream travel cinema) on the 1st floor of Hall 1 (room 16), spectators will once again be presented with special caravanning destinations this year. Konstantin Abert, Janette Emerich and Uwe Hamm show visitors impressive impressions of near and far dreamlands. This time the fascinating presentations will go to France, Turkey, Iceland, Patagonia, as well as the Panamericana and TransAfrica.

Faster, higher, further – that is the motto of the European Outdoor Film Tour (EOFT). On the 'Travel & Nature CONNECTED' stage in Hall 7, the EOFT crew will give a glimpse of the spectacular diversity of outdoor and adventure sports on Friday, September 6 at 18.00 p.m. When the protagonists start, the world is turned upside down – and so is the screen. The EOFT film experience is free for visitors to Caravan Salon.

Model pitch in the outdoor area

In the outdoor area between halls 10 and 17, the Caravaning Industry Association will once again present innovative solutions in the field of site technology and infrastructure with a special exhibition. Experts and manufacturers demonstrate using concrete examples how the successful planning and operation of camper sites works. Visitors can receive advice directly from experts on site.

B2B conference program

At Caravan Salon, the focus is no longer solely on products and services; in recent years, the trade fair has also developed into an important platform for dialogue and networking. The conference segment for professionals and tradespeople is being further expanded under the title 'Destination Zukunft 2024'. In addition to the established formats 'Symposium Natur.Tourismus.Zukunft', 'Deutscher Stellplatztag', and 'Fachforum Wandern', four new formats are being introduced: the Camping Destination Day, the networking evening 'Travel Industry meets Caravaning', Caravan Salon 'InnovationStage', and the Outdoor Host Day, which significantly enrich the B2B program. Using various examples and best practices, the development stages on the path to innovative caravaning destinations are highlighted. The full program can be found here.

'Camper of the year 2024'

The ADAC is looking for the 'Camper of the year 2024'. The final of the national competition will take place on Saturday, September 7 from 11.00 a.m. to 16.00 p.m. in the outdoor area in front of hall 10. Finalists from all over Germany qualified for the final round during the ADAC Camping Days in June and July and must demonstrate their skills in driving precision, agility and camping knowledge in various driving disciplines and in several special assignments.

Hall 7: Travel & Nature CONNECTED

The tourism segment of Caravan Salon is presenting itself for the first time in all its facets in Hall 7, directly at the North Entrance. Here visitors will find a variety of dream locations, attractive camping and pitches and perfect caravanning destinations for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing or cycling. The offer in this hall is supplemented with an informative and entertaining program on the 'Travel & Nature CONNECTED' stage and invites you to dream and to concretely plan your next trips.

E-bike course for hall 15

Cycling is one of the favorite hobbies of many caravanning fans. E-bikes in particular are very popular and are regularly used for camping trips and excursions. On the outdoor area in front of hall 15, the 'E-bike course' offers visitors the opportunity to try out the driving characteristics of electric bicycles and electric scooters on a separate area.

Rally for Children and Adventure Camp

For the little visitors, the Deutsche Wanderverband, in collaboration with many exhibitors, organizes the Rally for Children in Hall 7.0, which invites families to participate in the program at various stations and go on a journey of discovery. Equipped with an action card, children can explore the hall and solve small riddles at various exhibitors or show what they have to offer during varied hands-on activities. From a skill game, via the popular nature quiz to a search game – there is something to do for children of all ages. You can register at the stand of the Deutsche Wanderverband. During the weekends there are various playing and climbing activities for young people and children at the Adventure Camp of the Stadtsportbund Düsseldorf. In the outdoor area between Hall 10 and Hall 16, various action stations invite you to play and have fun.

Caravan Centre

Those who want to turn the trade fair visit into a short holiday can navigate to the popular Caravan Center in the fair's car park P1. During the duration of CARAVAN SALON, this will be the largest pitch in Europe. The Caravan Center has approximately 3.500 pitches with and without facilities and brings the community together. Due to high demand, pitches are limited to 48 hours when booking this year - so even more interested parties should have the opportunity to spend the night at the Caravan Center.
