On the eve of the summer holidays, it appears that 6.256 new campers and caravans were delivered in the first half of this year. That is 7,7% more than in the first 6 months of 2024. Brabant residents are the camping champions of the Netherlands.
In the period from January to June 2025, 4.373 new caravans rolled out of the showrooms, an increase of 3,7% compared to a year earlier. New camper vans were relatively more popular, with 1.883 delivered in the past six months, or 17,6% more than in the same period in 2024. This is evident from figures from industry organisations Kampeer en Caravan Industrie (KCI) and BOVAG. Chairman Roel Reineman of KCI sees a strong market, despite challenging circumstances: “There is a lot of economic uncertainty and a lot is going on in the world, but that does not stop Dutch campers from going out. In contrast to many other European countries, we continue to record positive figures.”
Used car sales stable
Compared to the first 6 months of last year, the trade has sold almost the same number of used caravans and campers in 2025, with 17.064 units. “The demand for used caravans also remains intact,” says Rolf Reinders, chairman of BOVAG Caravan and Camper Companies. “Our members have seen a large and very stable demand for years, with the noticeable fact that used caravans are also popular and old ones are increasingly being refurbished.”
North Brabant has the most
Last June, the Netherlands almost had 630.000 caravans and campers, an absolute record number and almost 12.000 more than a year earlier. More than 17% of these are registered in Noord-Brabant, making this province the camping champion of the Netherlands. The people of Gelderland follow at a considerable distance, owning just over 14% of all caravans and campers. Shortly behind, Zuid-Holland occupies third place with a share of just over 14%. Flevoland and Zeeland close the provincial ranking, as less than 3% of all Dutch campers and caravans are registered in both provinces. However, the population of these provinces is also less than 3% of the total Dutch population.
