Hiswa te Water makes sustainable boating more comparable

In 2026, Hiswa te Water is expanding De Groene Route from a recognition label into a knowledge and comparison platform. With a central engine show, guided tours, and an interactive map, watersports entrepreneurs and consumers can assess more sustainable technologies in a more targeted manner.

From signage to knowledge platform

Hiswa te Water is expanding The Green Route during the exhibition in Lelystad from September 2 to 6, 2026. While last year the initiative primarily showcased which exhibitors were involved in electric and hybrid boating, this year there will be a greater emphasis on comparison and knowledge transfer.

New features include a central EV Motor Show and daily tours of providers of sustainable applications. An interactive map is also being introduced, allowing visitors to create their own route past relevant exhibitors.

Central comparison of electric motors

An overview of electric and hybrid marine engines will be located in the entrance hall. Approximately sixteen manufacturers will present various brands, types, and power outputs there.

The Sustainable Boating Coalition staffs a central information point. Visitors can first get a broad overview there and then go to the stands of the individual suppliers for technical information.

In doing so, the trade fair is responding to a market in which the supply of electric drives is growing, but where it can still be difficult for buyers to compare systems, power outputs, and application possibilities.

Tours of ten providers

During the new Green Tour, small groups visit ten exhibitors in approximately one hour. They provide brief explanations of their applications and experiences.

The tours are not just about electric motors and boats. Lithium batteries, clean toilets, more sustainable antifouling, materials for boats and decks, and energy generation using sun, wind, and movement are also covered.

The tours are organized in collaboration with Waterrecreatie Nederland. Participation can be reserved in advance via Duurzame Waterrecreatie.

Growing need for an overview

During the 2025 edition, 71 of the 278 exhibitors were identifiable as providers in the field of electric and hybrid boating. According to the organization, this broad range provides a reason to offer visitors more structure.

For marinas, boat rental companies, tour boat companies, and other water recreation entrepreneurs, the trade fair thus becomes more than a product presentation. The new format can help with questions regarding electrification, energy consumption, maintenance, and making a fleet more sustainable.

“With the EV Motor Show and De Groene Tour, we are taking the next step: visitors not only see where sustainable boating can be found, they also experience it directly at the stand and hear everything about it in just a few minutes,” says Arjen Rahusen, Director of Hiswa te Water.

Practical applicability remains important

The expansion makes sustainable solutions easier to find, but entrepreneurs will ultimately have to assess investments based on their practical usability. Factors such as sailing profile, charging options, grid capacity, range, maintenance, and investment costs play a role in this assessment.

By centrally presenting providers and combining demonstrations with brief explanations, Hiswa te Water attempts to make that orientation phase clearer.
