The Raveleijn themed area opens its gates on December 1. Today, Efteling shares the first sketches of the area, a teaser video, and more about the story of the new show. Raveleijn is a revamped themed area featuring updated food and beverage options, a new souvenir shop, and the Ravenring attraction. Efteling will announce exactly how the opening will be celebrated at a later date.
Almost a year after the park show was last seen, visitors can discover the completely renovated city and watch the brand-new park show Raveleijn: Battle for the City . But the curious don't have to wait another three months to see what it looks like, because today, alongside the opening date, Efteling is revealing four sketches of the new themed area, along with a teaser video that offers a glimpse of the atmosphere and story of the new Raveleijn show.
Since its opening in 2011, Raveleijn has grown into one of Efteling's most famous stories: the tale of five ordinary children who transform into brave knights through a secret gate and must defend the city against evil. More than fifteen years after its opening, Raveleijn awakens once again.
Investment 20 million euros
Director of Product, Market and Image Koen Sanders: “The set has been extensively renewed and Raveleijn is getting a brand-new show full of breathtaking spectacle with stunts, created in collaboration with the French theme park Puy du Fou. The core of the story remains the same: when evil comes, the heroes of Raveleijn join forces. The total investment in the renewal of Raveleijn amounts to 20 million euros: 10 million euros for the new show, 5 million euros for the renovation of the area, and 5 million euros for the new attraction Ravenring.”
The story of the new show
Raveleijn: Battle for the City. Ten years after the victory over the dragon Draconicon and the villain Olaf Grafhart, peace reigns in Raveleijn. On the day of Thomas and Samira's wedding, a dark force awakens and disrupts the festivities. While the statue of Countess Halina, patroness of Raveleijn, watches over the square, the battle for the city erupts. Who will win? Visitors will find out starting December 1st.
New attraction: Ravenring
Outside the city walls lies the encampment featuring the new attraction, Ravenring. To protect the city of Raveleijn into the future, new heroes are constantly needed. In this thrilling, spinning flying ritual, their courage is put to the test. In doing so, guests discover which of the five magical elements suits them best. Visitors take a seat in one of the 18 winged vehicles, inspired by the ravens of Raveleijn. There is room for 36 visitors per flight. It is an entirely new attraction, developed by the Dutch attraction builder Vekoma.
On the square, Herberg De Verslaeghen Draek serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all year round, with a menu inspired by recipes and ingredients brought back by travelers from around the world. Visitors can order, among other things, a slice of Thomas and Samira's wedding cake.
In the new souvenir shop In den Ravenkorf, visitors will find clothing, toys, and other Raveleijn products. The heart of the shop is a large raven's hive, with numerous ravens hidden among the wooden beams. It is also possible to have your picture taken with the heroes of Raveleijn.
