On May 13, the national Gastvrij Veilig campaign was launched at EuroParcs Poort van Amsterdam. This approach helps holiday park entrepreneurs recognize crime earlier and take appropriate action. A program has been developed by Platform Veilig Ondernemen in collaboration with HISWA-RECRON and partners from the sector.

It is important to introduce (new) employees to the Gastvrij Veilig campaign. Ideally, after completing the campaign, there will be a structured monthly session to discuss this topic. Prior to this, you could watch the reporting videos with employees to discuss the key signs and tell them what to do if they notice something suspicious.
Holiday parks are originally places of peace, recreation, and hospitality. It is precisely this openness that also makes them vulnerable to abuse. For instance, in some cases, recreational homes are used for illegal occupancy, fraud, money laundering, or unlicensed sex work.
Gastvrij Veilig approaches safety as part of hospitable leadership. Managers receive practical tools to recognize signals, set clear standards, and support employees in reporting suspicious situations.
In collaboration with HISWA-RECRON and partners from the sector, Gastvrij Veilig is working on a strong, safe, and future-proof recreation industry.
