Hoenderdaell achieves highest recommendation score among Dutch day attractions

Hoenderdaell Zoo emerges as the most recommended day attraction in Multiscope's National Benchmark for Amusement Parks and Zoos. The park achieves a Net Promoter Score of +91, staying ahead of big names such as Efteling, Toverland, and Avonturenpark Hellendoorn. Also noteworthy is the strong position of southern parks in the ranking.

Hoenderdaell at the top

The research shows that Dierenpark Hoenderdaell achieves the highest recommendation score in the Netherlands. Visitors rate the park with an NPS of +91. The Efteling follows at a distance with +80. Toverland and Avonturenpark Hellendoorn share third place with +76. Duinrell and Artis close the ranking, although Multiscope emphasizes that these scores also remain positive.

Southern day attractions score highly

In addition to Hoenderdaell's top position, the strong position of the Southern Netherlands stands out. Five of the ten highest-scoring day attractions are located in North Brabant or Limburg, including Efteling, Toverland, ZooParc Overloon, Eindhoven Zoo, and Beekse Bergen.

These parks all score above the market average of +66. There is not a single park from the South in the bottom ten of the ranking.

Recommendation as a gauge for visitor experience

For amusement parks and zoos, the recommendation score is a relevant indicator. The Net Promoter Score shows the extent to which visitors would recommend a park to friends, family, or colleagues.

A high NPS generally indicates satisfied visitors, loyalty, and a strong overall experience. This is valuable for day attractions, as recommendations and repeat visits play an important role in the choice of a day out.

Smaller players can win on experience

For the sector, it is particularly interesting that Hoenderdaell outperforms large, very well-known brands in willingness to recommend. This shows that NPS is not just about scale, marketing power, or the range of attractions, but above all about the experience visitors take home. For day attractions, there is an important lesson here: distinctiveness, hospitality, atmosphere, and a clear identity can be at least as decisive for word-of-mouth advertising as size or name recognition. Especially in a market where families are critical about where they spend their free time and money, the power of recommendation is becoming an increasingly important competitive factor.

Research among over 4.000 Dutch people

The National Benchmark for Amusement Parks and Zoos was conducted by Multiscope among 4.122 Dutch people aged 18 and older. The study is representative of the Dutch population and examines, among other things, brand awareness, visitation, spending, NPS, and loyalty.
