Holland Casino wants to close the Zandvoort location as of February 2025. The reason for the closure is an efficiency operation of the casino chain. The first half of 2024 was closed with a loss of € 3,5 million. There is also too much overlap with the market area of other Holland Casino casinos.

The decision to close the Zandvoort location fits in with the strategy presented by Holland Casino last year. The strategy is aimed at tackling the rising costs of the casino, increasing the robustness of the company and continuing to invest in the prevention policy.
In recent years, Holland Casino has been struggling with excessively high costs for profitable business operations: “Particularly due to the need to bring our gaming offering and staffing levels up to standard. High inflation and the gradual increase in the collective labour agreement also entail considerable additional costs. Personnel costs rose from €136,5 million to €151,5 million, an increase of almost 11 percent.”

The strategy has taken a thorough look at the best distribution of locations across the Netherlands as well as the perspective on healthy business operations. This shows that there is no perspective for Holland Casino Zandvoort on healthy business operations. This is partly due to changed visitor behavior, deteriorating market conditions in Zandvoort and too much overlap with the catchment area of other locations.
For those potentially interested in the location: “The building and land will be offered for sale.”
