This is a decrease compared to the previous year, with 2,5 million visitors, and well below the peak years of 2019 and 2023, with 2,7 million visitors. A museum like the Rijksmuseum is particularly dependent on major crowd-pullers—which also have international appeal.
The Rijksmuseum is consistently in the top 3 of most visited day attractions in the Netherlands, and despite this decline, it will not lose that position anytime soon. Pretwerk.nl and Ginder will again be conducting an inventory of the 2025 visitor numbers of the top 50 Dutch day attractions.

The most important news of the past year was the announcement of a new museum (branch) in Eindhoven, for which a lead time of 6 to 8 years has been planned.
The public rated their visit to the Rijksmuseum this year with an average score of 8,65. Online followers grew, and 7,5 million people visited the Rijksmuseum website. Social media reached 50 million people. 300.000 people listened to the podcast. In the Rijksmuseum405.000 children visited the museum, 155.000 of whom attended school. 10.000 vocational students visited the Rijksmuseum.
The Rijksmuseum works closely with six museums in different regions in the Netherlands united in the organization M6Participants are: Museum Gouda. Then Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom, Municipal Museum The Hannemahuis in Harlingen, the West Frisian Museum in Hoorn, the Municipal Museum Zutphen and the Limburg Museum in Venlo. The first series of exhibitions, "Treasures from the National Museum," at the M6, attracted more than 300.000 visitors last year. A new series of exhibitions titled "Faith, Hope, and Love" will begin next year.
