New indoor addition at Tivoli Amusement Park enables year-round operation

On Saturday, April 18, Attractiepark Tivoli in Berg en Dal (near Nijmegen) opened a new indoor zone featuring, among other things, a roller skating rink, mini bowling, and an interactive play wall. This makes the park more attractive on rainy days and it now has sufficient indoor facilities to remain open year-round.

Tivoli had actually wanted to open the extension in the winter, but due to delays in the permits, realization was postponed until the spring. The entrepreneurs needed only a week and a half for the construction of the extra hall. The installation of the attractions and the decoration were subsequently completed in-house.

The new indoor space is an entirely new building that has been added to the existing indoor play area (soft play) and the restaurant.

Multiple benefits for the park

Director Sylvia van Bochem explains that the expansion means much more than just a location for the new indoor games: “It is difficult for our park to continue growing at this location. This is mainly due to the limited parking facilities. With 65.000 visitors in 2025, we were already pretty much at our limit. Thanks to the new indoor hall, we can now extend our season. Whereas we were previously closed in the winter, we can now offer sufficient entertainment to open as an indoor play hall during the winter. Moreover, a visit to Tivoli is now also worthwhile on days with less-than-ideal weather.”

Year-round operation also has the advantage for Tivoli of providing greater security for the permanent team of employees. The added value for the hospitality sector is still being examined, which will likely be able to remain open for more hours, possibly through (temporary) separation from the park. Due to the increased capacity of indoor play facilities, Tivoli also becomes more attractive to larger groups, such as school trips, during the winter period.

The (outdoor) amusement park will remain closed during the winter period, resulting in a different admission price (the exact price has not yet been determined).

No subscriptions – but a member portal

With this expansion, Tivoli is making smart use of the available opportunities. Within the current operation, growth options are primarily limited by the parking facilities. Mirja Hondebrink, who handles the park's marketing and sales, explains that the tight space also leads to carefully considered choices: “We no longer have season passes. Everyone simply pays for an entrance ticket. This is a choice made to generate sufficient revenue within the space we have. To still build a bond with our regular guests, we have set up a member portal organized around a newsletter, where followers regularly receive special offers. Subscribers to our newsletter also receive benefits at other parks with whom we collaborate.”
