On the eve of the 60th Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs (Camping and Caravan Trade Fair) in Utrecht, trade associations BOVAG and Kampeer en Caravan Industrie (KCI) conclude that more new motorhomes have been registered so far this year than in the entire year of 2024. Caravan sales are also on the rise.
Up to mid-September, KCI and BOVAG recorded 2.558 new motorhomes registered in the Netherlands. In calendar year 2024, that number was 2.465 from January to December, which already represented an increase of almost 11 percent compared to 2023. Roel Reineman, chairman of KCI, predicts a record year: "The order books are well-filled, and there are great deals to be found at the upcoming Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs (Camping and Caravan Trade Fair), so I expect that in the final quarter we will push towards a historic high sales total of 3.000 new motorhomes in 2025."
Caravans also in the plus
This year, up to mid-September, the trade associations also saw 6.174 new caravans leave the showrooms. Last year, in the first three quarters—including the entire month of September—there were 6.106, bringing the total for the whole of 2024 to 7.189. This was a 6 percent increase compared to 2023. Rolf Reinders, Chairman of BOVAG Caravan and Camper Companies: "These figures once again underscore the Netherlands' status as a typical caravanning country. Sales figures are rising nowhere else in Europe, but caravans remain the favorite for Dutch campers."
Record number
A record number of 633.802 caravans and motorhomes are now registered in the Netherlands (as of September 1, 2025), nearly 12.000 more than a year ago. This total includes 208.374 motorhomes and 425.945 caravans. This year, up to September 1, specialist retailers sold 12.479 used motorhomes and 11.156 used caravans, making used vehicle sales stable compared to previous years.
Camping and Caravan Jaarbeurs
The 60th edition of the Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs (Camping and Caravan Trade Fair) opens its doors in Utrecht on Wednesday, October 1st. For five days, the public can see, feel, and experience all the new products. Not just caravans and campers, but also folding trailers, (roof) tents, and accessories. Campsites and tourist destinations will be on display on the exhibition floor, visitors can attend workshops and lectures, old caravans will be "pimped" in the DIY area, and everyone can show off their parking skills with a camper or caravan in the outdoor area. The "largest camping festival in the Netherlands" runs until Sunday, October 5th.
