Landal presents practical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

On Thursday, September 25, Landal welcomed over forty representatives of the press, bloggers, influencers, and business relations to its new headquarters in Amsterdam, with a focus on the twenty-three snow destinations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. For this reason, the headquarters had been decorated entirely in a winter theme, and 'wintery' snacks and drinks were provided for the guests. On that occasion, the organization also presented a practical approach to AI in the hospitality industry. How can AI be used efficiently before and during your trip?

Spokesperson Jeannette ten Kate welcomed everyone at the start of the meeting and then provided a brief overview of the latest news about the snow destinations. She then introduced Dennis Mulder of 'Full Circle IT'. His presentation, commissioned by Landal, included a practical interpretation of the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a former Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft, he was instrumental in the development of AI (Artificial Intelligence). He also translated AI for the tourism industry. How can you optimally benefit from this AI tool?

Large Language Models

Dennis Mulder first outlined, in a historical overview, how artificial intelligence systems have developed since 1956. He showed that the current hype-like interest in AI should be seen in the right perspective. Similar "IT revolutions" have occurred before. But what is remarkable now is the speed of AI adoption compared to other IT innovations. Within five days of its introduction, ChatGPT already had over 1 million users. In short, the speed of growth is remarkable.

Dennis Mulder discussed analytical systems where Search Engine Optimization is the core. He also touched upon the relationship with Large Language Models, a large artificial intelligence-type language model that can understand and generate large amounts of text data. Optimizing search results, and obtaining the desired information, therefore plays a crucial role in various AI applications such as ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini, and Claude.

Next Travel Report

"The Next Travel Report (2025)," Dennis Mulder states, "indicates that social media and AI are increasingly being used in determining travel destinations. Over 44% of consumers are willing to use AI. But how can you use AI to better reach your target audience? The prompt, the instruction given to AI, is crucial." He used the metaphor of a librarian who, based on information, chooses a route in the library to find the right books. "It's all about the structure of a prompt; with the wrong structure, you end up with the wrong books."

AI travel guide

Using several examples, Dennis Mulder went into detail to devise the optimal PROMPT structure. "In principle, you (as a travel advisor) should first assume the role of the travel consumer, then describe the context of that role, then put AI to work, and finally, put yourself in the shoes of your target audience." Dennis Mulder had written an AI travel guide with 'travel types' such as the peace seeker, the family planner, the holiday advisor, the luxury travel planner, the children's entertainer, the foodie guide, the activity planner, and the wellness coach. A prompt-structure text was formulated in an average of 50-70 words, a shopping list for AI.

All in all, it was a surprisingly refreshing mix, the presentation of the new travel destinations and the presentation of AI for the travel industry.
