Drivers and opportunities for continuing to work after retirement

In a society where the ageing population is increasing and the tightness on the labour market is becoming increasingly noticeable, older employees can play a new and important role. Research shows that there are still many bottlenecks and thresholds. ZilverWerkt has conducted a study among people who have registered as (potential) workers. Central research question: what are the wishes and needs of workers and what bottlenecks are experienced?

The aging population is one of the greatest social challenges of our time. In 2040, 1 in 4 people will be over 65 years old. This research also shows that the aging population also brings opportunities. The vital retired person still sees work as a part of their life and wants to be of added value to organizations. The image and the lack of awareness in management & HR departments, in many cases, stand in the way of this.

ZilverWerkt is therefore launching Senior Intelligence: a movement that is committed to creating age-inclusive workplaces. The initiative aims to bring about a cultural change, in which older employees, especially those who have reached retirement age and would like to continue working, are recognized as valuable resources with a lot of experience and knowledge. The movement is a response to the dual challenge of an aging population and labor shortages, and emphasizes the need for an inclusive workplace where all generations participate fully.

ZilverWerkt is an organization that focuses on connecting companies and workers and has the mission to break through prejudices surrounding workers in the labor market. The organization strives to create age-inclusive workplaces and also functions as a knowledge partner for employers and workers.
