Plopsaland Belgium invests 25 million euros in Plopsaland Plaza

Plopsaland Plaza is the largest expansion in the history of the park in De Panne. Opening in 2027, the new complex will become the resort's central meeting place and will include a brand-new attraction, the Grand Café, a bowling alley, and the main station for the iconic Plopsa Express. The highlight will be the Flying Cinema, the first of its kind in Europe, where visitors literally fly across the continent with Maya the Bee.

With this investment, Plopsaland is taking the next step in its transformation into a fully-fledged resort, and the park in De Panne aims to grow to 2 million visitors per year. This confirms Plopsaland's role as one of Europe's leading leisure destinations.

Plopsaland Plaza

Plopsaland Plaza will be the park's new central meeting place. The complex combines experience, gastronomy, and entertainment in a single location. Visitors will discover a brand-new and spectacular attraction, the atmospheric Grand Café with classics like beef stew and steak tartare, the Bowling Alley, and the return of the iconic Plopsa Express, the train that runs through the park, with a completely new station.

With this project, Plopsaland Belgium is taking the next major step in its ambitious growth story. Since the opening of the Plopsaland Theater Hotel in 2021, the park has already invested in groundbreaking projects such as The Ride to Happiness by Tomorrowland, recently voted best European roller coaster, the Circus Bumba indoor area, and the villas and cottages of Plopsaland Village.

Flying theatre European first

The absolute highlight of Plopsaland Plaza will be a flying cinema by Mack Rides. Visitors will virtually float in a moving gondola within a vast cinema dome, creating the illusion of real flight. During the day, visitors will take a flight over Europe with Maya the Bee. In the evening, other film experiences will be offered, especially for overnight guests and the evening audience at Plopsaland Plaza. The projection and audio system will be provided in collaboration with Barco, a world-class Belgian company.

We strongly believe in the potential of the Plopsaland Resort here in De Panne. With Plopsaland Plaza, we're elevating our resort to an international level, and with this investment, we aim to set a new standard for experience and quality. We're continuing to build Plopsaland as the premier entertainment destination on the coast. Plopsaland Plaza will be the place where it all comes together.

Maya is a perfect fit for a flying cinema. Visitors will soon take a flight over Europe with Maya. It's special that we can connect a character who resonates with so many generations with an innovative attraction. That makes the experience even more powerful. Who would have thought you could actually fly with Maya?

Gert Verhulst

This is a milestone in Plopsaland's history. Never before have we invested so significantly. With Plopsaland Plaza, we not only want to attract 2 million visitors a year, but above all, we want to strengthen our position as one of the leading leisure resorts in Europe.

Top destination on the Flemish coast

With Plopsaland Plaza, the park is taking the next step in developing a fully-fledged resort. By 2027, visitors will find a complete offering: from attractions and evening shows to a water park, hotel, and holiday accommodations. Thanks to the Flying Cinema, the new Grand Café, the Bowling Alley, and the central meeting plaza, everything will be brought together in one location for the first time. With this, the Plopsaland Resort not only aims to grow to 2 million visitors per year but also strengthens its role as a driving force for coastal tourism. The resort in De Panne is thus definitively positioning itself among the leading leisure destinations in Europe.
