Constant in Beweging is expanding its fleet with the iconic paddle steamer De Majesteit. With the acquisition, this characteristic ship remains in Rotterdam and its successful operation as a floating event venue will be continued. In this way, this beloved maritime heritage is preserved for Rotterdam.
This project is a fine example of commercial exploitation that preserves maritime heritage for the future . The passenger ship was built in Germany in 1925/1926 and, in its early years, also operated a tourist route on the Rhine between Rotterdam and Düsseldorf. When asked, spokesperson Robert Bastiaenen of Constant in Beweging added: “We indeed do not need subsidies to preserve this ship and keep it sailing.”
The Majesteit has been a beloved sight on the Maas for many years and enjoys great fame in Rotterdam and far beyond. She is the only sailing paddle steamer in the Netherlands. The view of the impressive paddle mechanism and the working steam engine makes this ship extra special.

The operation of De Majesteit will continue under her familiar name and from her current berth in Rotterdam.

Just like the other ships of Constant in Beweging, De Majesteit will be deployed as a floating event venue for business meetings, conferences, dinners, corporate parties, and other special occasions. “Thanks to this expansion, we have an even more versatile range of venues at our disposal, each with its own character and atmosphere,” says Van der Zwaluw.
With the arrival of De Majesteit, the Constant in Beweging fleet consists of three distinctive vessels: Blue Rhapsody, Grace Kelly, and De Majesteit. Together, they offer a wide range of exclusive floating event venues, where quality, hospitality, and experience take center stage.
