RCN Holiday Parks acquires De Schatberg

RCN Vakantieparken has acquired recreation centre De Schatberg in Sevenum. De Schatberg is one of the largest holiday parks in Limburg, with 425 touring pitches, 450 permanent pitches, and 170 bungalows. The park also features extensive facilities such as an indoor and outdoor swimming pool with water slides, a recreational lake, and various catering and entertainment facilities.

With the addition of De Schatberg, RCN strengthens its position as a provider of high-quality holiday parks in the Netherlands, Germany, and France. The acquisition aligns with RCN’s strategy to invest in strong, future-proof parks with a broad recreational profile and room for further quality development. The scale, versatility, and strong regional roots of De Schatberg fit well with RCN’s mission to offer guests an accessible, nature-rich, and relaxed environment. Because new recreational locations in and near nature reserves are scarce, RCN deliberately focuses on strong, existing parks with a natural layout, such as De Schatberg.

RCN has been offering holidays in nature-rich locations for over 70 years, making it a trusted and recognizable name within the Dutch leisure sector. Connection is central to RCN's approach; connection with nature, among guests, and with the world around them.

We are pleased to welcome this beautiful holiday park to RCN. We have great appreciation for what the current owner and the team have built here over the past decades: a beloved destination with a strong foundation and a committed team. The social role that De Schatberg plays in the region aligns closely with the values upon which RCN is built. From that shared foundation, we want to invest in quality and experience, step by step.

Riné van Dingstee, CEO RCN Holiday Parks

De Schatberg has been our life's work for over 30 years. We have built, expanded, and redesigned this park with great passion, together with a dedicated team. We have always stayed close to our employees and worked with commitment on everything that has been created here. Looking ahead, we see that the next phase of development would benefit from a broader organization and a long-term vision. In RCN, we see values that we ourselves also consider important, such as a focus on accessible holidays, connection, and continuity.

The future offers room for further growth, and changes in the market bring new insights. In our view, these insights are best developed and realized by a complete management team. We have always consciously kept our feet on the ground and operated close to our employees. It is precisely this commitment that characterizes us. At the same time, we recognize that the future calls for a different approach to management. As a relatively small team, we have reached our limits in this regard. We have found this confidence in the party to whom we are transferring it: RCN Vakantieparken.

Ronald Hoppzak, owner and director of De Schatberg

De Schatberg's social role as a local employer aligns well with the values upon which RCN has been built for decades. For years, the park has offered learning and work placements in collaboration with regional employment agencies and creates opportunities for people facing barriers to employment.

For guests, nothing will change in the short term: all existing bookings remain valid, and the park will continue to offer its facilities and activities as usual. From the end of 2026, RCN will gradually introduce elements of the RCN concept, while retaining the unique features of De Schatberg.
