Figures from trade association Kampeer & Caravan Industrie (KCI) and data agency VWE show that 254 new motorhomes and 796 new caravans were registered last July. Compared to the same month in 2023, this represents an increase of 25 and 28 percent, respectively.

In the first seven months of 2024, dealers delivered a total of 5.016 new caravans, or almost 8,5 percent more than in the period January to July 2023. As far as newly registered campers are concerned, the counter is up to July 1.852. 12,5 copies, an increase of XNUMX percent compared to a year ago. KCI Chairman Leo Diepemaat: “Camping remains immensely popular. Even in the middle of the high season, we now see large numbers of new caravans and campers being delivered, with which the owners immediately set off throughout Europe to enjoy a well-deserved holiday. Normally there was only a peak in deliveries in early spring, but there is now constant demand throughout the year.”
Record number of 620.000 caravans and campers
Second-hand sales also remain at a high level according to VWE and KCI data. From January to July, the specialist trade sold 11.531 units of almost as many used campers as a year earlier (11.667). The same applies to used caravans, with 9.642 units versus 9.610 in the first seven months of 2023. Diepemaat: “The turnover rate is high. What comes in is also sold almost immediately, so interested parties will have to act quickly. This sometimes makes it difficult to keep up with the high demand. But the most important thing is that traditional Dutch camping reigns supreme and that everyone enjoys the outdoors at the campsite at home and abroad. This is also evident from the current record number of no less than 620.000 caravans and campers in the Netherlands.”
