Sparkx – Belgium's largest sports amusement park opens near Antwerp

Sparkx sports park opens its newest sports park in Schelle (Province of Antwerp) on Sunday, March 15th. At approximately 5.000 m², it's the largest in the country. Remarkably, this is already Sparkx's third Belgian park in less than three years. Yet, Schelle isn't a carbon copy of the others. The Antwerp sports park distinguishes itself with unique sports experiences that can't be found anywhere else in the world.

Sparkx also recently announced a new 7.500 m² Sportainment location in the Netherlands (Nieuwegein) , which will open at the end of 2026.

The most spectacular crowd-pullers in Antwerp are:

  • A meter-high jump;
  • a sports plane;
  • and the Japanese boat race Kyōtei

Six months after Sparkx announced the opening of its third Belgian park on the former site of San Marco Village, the sports park is ready to welcome sports enthusiasts en masse to Schelle. The park approaches sports with a playful approach: more than 40 sports experiences combine physical challenges with a virtual backdrop. Sparkx thus makes sports accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical condition. Visitors to Antwerp can try their hand at bobsledding, floorball, or even Formula 1 racing.

The beauty of combining sports with a virtual environment is that you learn to experience sports in a completely new way. We tailor competitions to everyone's level and abilities, so everyone can compete without sacrificing the fun. For example, grandparents can easily challenge their grandchildren to a game. At the same time, we challenge visitors to push their own boundaries: even people with motor disabilities can experience the thrills of various sports with us.

Tom Van Hoegaarden, park director of Sparkx Antwerp

World first with semi-virtual ski jump

Sparkx has been innovating the way Belgians exercise since opening its very first sports park in Hasselt and its second less than a year ago in Ghent. With the sports park in Schelle, the entrepreneurs are taking things a step further. They're elevating the overall digital experience by allowing visitors to create personalized avatars, and their levels and scores are now tracked across the parks. Moreover, one in four sports experiences in the Antwerp park are either in-house or specially developed with an external partner. These include several Belgian world firsts, which the company will also distribute internationally to other amusement parks.

Target audiences

The park caters to various groups, from individual athletes to corporate team-building activities, school trips, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and birthday parties. The park can also be rented for larger events. Moreover, a special evening offer allows you to enjoy a workout after work.

A team of 24 full-time employees and park director Tom Van Hoegaarden will be ready to welcome visitors from the wider Antwerp province from Sunday.

Prices start at €17,95 for 1 hour of active play, €28,95 for 2 hours, and €34,95 for 4 hours. A full day at the sports park starts at €44,95.
