Expansion of Fletcher hotels to Germany with a focus on wellness and beauty

One of the fastest expanding hotel chains in the Netherlands is Fletcher Hotels. The group owns over 110 locations in the Netherlands, mostly in tourist areas. Early 2025, Fletcher opened its first locations in Germany, namely Waldhotel Nordrhein-Westfalen and Hotel Arnsberg-Sauerland. The two new locations in Germany combine an attractive location with excellent accessibility.

The Arnsberg location, for example, is on the route to the Sauerland on the way to popular destinations such as Willingen and Winterberg. But it is certainly not only suitable for a short stay while traveling. It also offers attractive possibilities for a longer stay. The Fletcher Waldhotel Nordrhein-Westfalen is centrally located near the cities of Wuppertal, Düsseldorf and Essen. The locations are popular with both tourists and business guests.

First German hotels

At the end of last year, CEO Rob Hermans announced that growth abroad is one of Fletcher Hotels' ambitions. "There are plans to expand to Germany. We are thinking of the Eifel, the Harz and the area around Winterberg. We are looking for hotels that focus on cycling, walking and nature where the Dutch like to stay. We have identified Germany as the first destination because Germany scores highly with the Dutch." Well, the CEO of Fletcher has fulfilled this prediction and added the first German hotels to the Fletcher Hotel Group.

The Hotel Arnsberg-Sauerland, a four-star hotel with Blue-Wellness, a spa and beauty location with swimming pool. The hotel is also suitable as a meeting location and has several meeting rooms. The modern fitness center is also used by local residents. The former Dorint hotel regularly serves as an overnight accommodation when there are trade fairs in the region. For example, participants and visitors to the 'Lichtwoche Sauerland' (16-02 to 21-02-2025) stayed there. The 'Lichtwoche Sauerland' is the light event for professionals from the hospitality and retail industry, which attracted thousands of extra visitors this year because of its 20th anniversary. The Waldhotel Nordrhein-Westfalen combines history with modern comfort. There is also a wellness and fitness center here.

In short, with the incorporation of the two German hotels, Fletcher is realising its growth ambitions and demonstrating that it is still possible to grow even in times of economic headwind.

Chris Luken

The name 'Fletcher' refers to the dog of co-founder Chris Luken. Luken became famous for introducing 'the Hotelbon'. In 2016, Chris Luken sold the hotel chain to Rob Hermans and Edwin van Heteren. They have further expanded the chain in recent years. With over 110 top locations in the Netherlands and abroad, Fletcher is currently the largest hotel chain in the Netherlands.
