Burgers' Zoo presents a colorful, educational musical about the animals of Burgers' Desert from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, August 23, 2026. Commissioned by the Arnhem zoo, Van Hoorne Studios has written an exciting adventure starring Zoë and Silos, who receive help from various animal desert dwellers. Visitors can watch the musical five times a day, included in the regular admission price to Burgers' Zoo.
Continuation of a proven musical tradition
Zoë and Silos get their hands on a mysterious map that seems to point to a treasure supposedly hidden in the American rocky desert. They embark on an adventure together in this extraordinary landscape and meet various animal species along the way, each with their own qualities to help Zoë and Silos on their quest. Zoë and Silos's new musical is set in the Desert, which introduces visitors to the Sonora and Mojave Deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. This year, the Desert has undergone a major renovation: not only has a new main entrance been added next to the elephants, along with a new main route through the Desert, but various new animal enclosures and new animal species have also been introduced.
Sign language interpreter translates musical five times a day on two dates
On Thursday, July 23 and Saturday, August 8, 2026, a sign language interpreter will translate all five musical performances of those days for the deaf and hard of hearing. With this offer, Burgers' Zoo aims to make the musical accessible to the estimated 1,5 million Dutch people who are hard of hearing and/or deaf. The number of deaf people in the Netherlands is estimated at around 30.000.
Practical details
'Zoë & Silos The Desert Musical' can be seen five times daily from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the Auditorium of the Safari Meeting Centre, in the heart of Burgers' Zoo. The show lasts approximately 25 minutes and starts at 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, and 15:30. Immediately after each musical, a meet & greet with Zoë and Silos takes place in the adjacent Safari Restaurant. The musical is included in the park admission price and is free for season ticket holders.
